Nestlé and PricewaterhouseCoopers teamed up to organise a talk on Measuring Shared Value: Enabling Effective Sustainability on 4 June 2014. The opening remarks was delivered by Mr. Marc Seiler, Executive Director, Finance & Control of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad. In his speech, he stressed that Nestlé as the Nutrition, Health and Wellness company, creates prosperity and improves the quality of peoples’ lives in an inclusive manner and which goes beyond just complying with the legal requirements or international standards. Creating Shared Value (CSV) also helps us build sustainable relationships with the people, stakeholders and communities whom we touch through the success of our business.

The half-day programme created an opportunity for both companies to strengthen their ties with their respective stakeholders and shed some light on the various approaches of CSV which is being actively practised by other organisations. Mr. Andrew Chan, PwC’s Sustainability and Climate Change Leader also gave an overview on impact measurement and covered the consistently evolving nature of sustainability as well as its emerging trends. Nestlé’s Corporate Responsibility Manager, Ms. Immy Ooi shared about CSV as Nestlé’s business approach and highlighted the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme, using it as a case study to demonstrate how success and impact is being measured.
