Alois Hofbauer is the Managing Director of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad and the Region Head of Nestlé Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei.
Hofbauer is currently helming Nestlé Malaysia, the leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company in Malaysia with a turnover of over RM4.8 billion in 2015, with over 5,500 staff and with eight factories throughout the nation. Nestlé Malaysia is one of the strongest companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia with a market capitalisation of over RM17 billion.
Hofbauer brings more than 25 years of experience to the business globally and in Asia as he held many senior positions covering various Business Units within Nestlé’s regional front including Coffee and Beverages, Dairy, Culinary, Confectionery since he joined the company in 1990. After his Masters in Economics and Business, he started off in Sales as a Management Trainee before moving on to Marketing. In the mid-nineties he moved to Hong Kong, which was the first of several assignments in the Greater China region.
He possesses a strong business and leadership record as CEO and has a deep understanding of the consumer and business landscape in the Asian region since his first General Management role in 2004 as Managing Director of Nestlé Taiwan. He went on to be the Managing Director of Nestlé Sri Lanka until his current appointment.
Since his tenure in Malaysia in 2013, Hofbauer has spearheaded many initiatives which has increased the visibility and credibility of Nestlé Malaysia. Amongst such achievement included the Halal Excellence Award 2014 which aims to recognise Nestlé Malaysia’s expertise and contribution to the overall Halal industry in Malaysia.
Under his leadership, Nestlé Malaysia was also recognised as Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers for two consecutive years in the FMCG/Retail sector.
Hofbauer was also a finalist in the CNBC 13th Asia Business Leaders Award (ABLA), which aims to recognise remarkable business leaders, who through strength, innovation and foresight induce positive changes in an evolving corporate Asia.
As a Company that cares, Nestlé Malaysia also became the proud recipient of the highest accolade of the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award, for its commitment towards environmental stewardship. The Company won the Selangor State Award and Exceptional Achievement in Environmental Performance in 2015.
Hofbauer presently serves on the Council of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). He is also the Chairman of the FMM Ethical Business Practices Committee.
